Flag/Joint Flag Member

•       Owns a boat when joining SGYC

•       Has full use of the club facilities and can participate in all club events and activities

•       Has use of the club's Fun and Fitness Fleet of bicycles, paddle boards, rowboat, kayaks and the SilverGater runabout

•       Enjoys voting rights

•       Can be listed on the slip waiting list

•       Can be assigned a slip or dry storage space, if available

•       May serve as an officer, director or committee member

•       Can sign for food and beverages

•       May use the Club ballroom for private parties

Junior Flag/Joint Junior Flag Member:

•       Has full use of the club facilities and can participate in all club events and activities

•       Has use of the club's Fun and Fitness Fleet of bicycles, paddle boards, rowboat, kayaks and the SilverGater runabout

•       Can be listed on the slip waiting list

•       May serve as a committee member

•       Can sign for food and beverages

•       May use the Club ballroom for private parties

Associate Member:

•       Has full use of the club facilities and can participate in all club events and activities

•       Has use of the club's Fun and Fitness Fleet of bicycles, paddle boards, rowboat, kayaks and the SilverGater runabout

•       May serve as a committee member

•       Can sign for food and beverages

•       May use the Club ballroom for private parties

Junior Member:

• Minor children of Flag, Junior Flag, or Associate Members are Junior Members of Silver Gate Yacht Club.

• Other persons under twenty-one (21) years of age whose interest in yachting is in the best interest of the Club may apply for Junior Membership if sponsored by a Flag Member. The sponsoring Flag Member shall serve as a mentor to the Junior Member, providing instruction and guidance in club protocols and appropriate dress and behavior at the Club. Unless attending junior sailing activities, minor Junior Members should be accompanied by their sponsor or another adult club member. Such sponsored Junior Membership must be subject to renewal annually in January. Junior Members shall be exempt from paying dues, assessments, and fees.

Junior Members’ privileges include:
a) Representing Silver Gate Yacht Club in Corinthian yachting competitions.
b) Full use of the Clubhouse and grounds, subject to age limitations, where appropriate.
c) Forming a Junior's Organization to promote boating and youth social activities.

Junior Membership status terminates (in good standing) in December of the year in which the Junior Member becomes twenty-one (21) years of age unless they are a full-time student or a member of the Armed Forces, in which case their Junior Member status may be extended by the Board of Directors (annually in January) until December of the year in which they become twenty-four (24) years of age.

A Junior Member who has been a Junior Member for the two (2) years immediately preceding may transfer to Flag, Junior Flag, or Associate Membership. The Junior Member must initiate such a transfer and is subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. Any subsequent transfers to other membership classifications will be subject to the normal fees as set forth in ARTICLE V.
